This website serves as documentation of Bryan Blanc & Esther Needham’s Spring/Summer 2021 Innovation Incubator project as well as its primary outcome – the BDAT (Bus Delay Analysis Tool) Project & Treatment Module!
The Innovation Incubator application identified the following deliverables for the project:
# | Proposed Deliverable | Result |
---|---|---|
1 | A demonstration application of the enhanced Project Treatment Module. | BDAT Project Treatment Module Shiny Application |
2 | A PostgreSQL database with an intake form for new transit priority treatment implementations and before/after measurements. | BDAT Project Treatment Module Shiny Application, which inputs data into the PostgreSQL database developed. |
3 | A GitHub repository with the code for the demonstration application and any scripts needed to interact with the database. | Perkins&Will GitHub Repository |
4 | A documentation website (a GitHub pages site in the GitHub repository) documenting both the database and instructions for how to copy the demonstration code onto a client project. | This website! |
5 | A short video hosted on a public platform (e.g., YouTube) demonstrating the use of the demo application for sharing internally and externally. | A video demonstrating the use of the BDAT Project Treatment Module |
The Bus Delay Analysis Tool (BDAT) Project & Treatment Module Module was developed based on the initial projects & treatments functionality implemented in the King Country Metro & Seattle Department of Transportation version of BDAT. We had several goals for the module:
The module is available for use here on a demonstration basis, and with further improvements will be implemented in future client projects. A short video demonstrating the use of the module is available here.
As part of this Innovation Incubator, we had originally aimed to collect observed data (e.g., stop event and stop pair data) from several agencies for demonstrative purposes. While we did get the data request sent out later than expected, the agencies were unfortunately also slow in getting back to us with data, so the data collection work will continue after the Innovation Incubator project period. This table summarizes the data we have received to date, and the data we still need.
Agency ID | Agency Name | Time Period | Have Aggregate Stop Event Data? | Have Aggregate Stop Pair Data | Have S&R Project Descriptions? |
